Memorial For Eddie Kent

Within the last five months we all may have heard of the passing of long time Vincentian and our trusted Man of Security, Eddie Kent. I know we all very much miss his smiling face and the genuine love and kindness he brought to all he met.

 

Very much part of Eddie's life was his recently widowed Carla. Juliet and I from St. Bede recently visited Carla at her and Eddie's home in Hayward. We spent the time remembering Eddie with stories, photos, laughter, and tears. 

 

We talked of doing something that Eddie so loved, gathering with family and friends for a barbecue. How wonderful it will be to celebrate our dear Vincentian brother! We will call this our Memorial for Eddie Kent. 

 

Part of our Memorial of Eddie is making ourselves available to his widow, Carla. Both Carla and Eddie lived and prayed our Vincentian Ministry, as they served the District Council. Our loss of Eddie has affected Carla beyond losing her Love. Carla may now be looking at what could be the difficult task of making ends meet. After her car accident of earlier this year, Carla finds herself temporarily away from work. She is getting by, but it has been a struggle.

 

The St. Bede Conference is looking at some of Carla’s immediate needs. In addition to this, we are reaching out to our Vincentian Family inviting you to donate to a special Memorial Fund for Eddie to be presented to Carla. Please understand that this is not a request for Conference Twinning assistance but rather an opportunity to personally donate enabling Carla to feel a bit more secure as she takes on challenges being faced since the passing of Eddie. How pleased Eddie would be to see his Vincentian Family bringing God’s love to our dear friend and sister Carla!

 

We have set up this account through Go Fund Me to accept donations toward a Memorial For Eddie Kent. We also are inviting all to the BBQ in Honor of Eddie. This is scheduled for Saturday, May 15th at 12:30 pm at Cannery Park – 125 B Street – Hayward. It will be at the Northeast corner of the Park in covered section with Picnic Tables. Carla and family will supply the ribs (Yum!). Please bring a side dish. We will be gathering socially at a good size picnic area.
