IN HONOR OF DOUG GREGORY by Debbie Gregory (wife)
Arlie Douglas Gregory was born May 1, 1963 in Dallas, Texas to Carl and Wilma Gregory. He passed into the arms of Jesus on January 9, 2021 from COVID-19. Doug leaves behind his wife, Debbie Gregory; son, Dustin Gregory; daughter and son-in-law, Amberlie and Shawn MacCurdy; daughter, Lisa Gregory; granddaughter Zoey Gregory; sister, Jeanette Mott; and brother and sister-in-law Ray and Patricia Mott. He is predeceased by his son, Arlie Douglas Gregory, Jr; his mother, Wilma Gregory; and his father, Carl Gregory.
Doug was an avid hunter and loved spending time outdoors. After a successful career as a Meat Department Manager with Randall’s Food Market, Doug became a successful businessman. He owned and operated the family screen company, Alumascreen Custom Structures, LLC. Doug served our Lord through his church, evangelism, and the Tres Dias and Vida Nueva ministries. Doug was a walking, talking miracle of God. He never met a stranger and shared his testimony with everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
In lieu of services, a celebration of life will be held in the future. Any remembrances can be made via donation directly to the Gregory family. (Debbie Gregory, 9914 Enchanted Stone Drive, Houston, TX. 77070) or in his name to youth organization South East Texas Vida Nueva, (SETVN, 24023 Jones Road, Hempstead, TX. 77445.)
Many have questioned and wondered why I have not made this post yet. Our reality has been… Dustin and I are still recovering from our battles with COVID-19. I, starting symptoms on 12/26 testing positive on 12/30, at home still recovering. I will be returning to work fulltime this coming Monday and still struggling with cough and fatigue. Our son Dustin, starting symptoms on 12/30, testing positive on 1/5. Hospitalized on 1/8, treated with antibodies, released, and now home recovering. 1/9 -Dustin’s birthday, the loss of his father. This has not been a 10-to-14-day illness for either of us but much longer and harder than we expected. Each day since Doug’s death has been filled with overwhelming mental and financial decisions that do not just affect us but 5 different families.
Today, February 6, 2021, as I ride home in the car my sister is driving with Doug’s ashes and death certificate in my lap…I have no choice but to face my factual reality…I have lost my husband of 26 years; our children, Dustin, Lisa, and Amberlie has lost their father, our granddaughter, Zoey has lost her grandfather. We have LOST the MAJOR BREAD WINNER of our home, there was NO LIFE INSURANCE. Due to the loss of both Doug and our foreman, Pedro, I have no choice but to close Alumascreen Custom Structures, LLC.; A family legacy that has been in business for 46 years. We also experienced the loss of my mother, Patricia after 8-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on November 22, 2020. In the last five months, our family has experienced more loss than any one family should have to bear…my cousin, Becky; My mother, Patricia; my uncle, Albert; and my husband, Doug. There are no words that can begin to describe the devastation that we are suffering as individuals and as a family. I ask that you continue to pray for us all as we strive to survive, to accept the things we cannot change, and as we look to the future and learn to live in our new normal.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:18
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Psalm73:26
“Be brave. Be strong. Don't quit. Expect God to get here soon.” Psalm 31:24. (The Message)
I am holding strong to God’s promises and I look forward to the day that I will again see Doug in heaven.
In Doug’s honor,
Deb
