Memorial for David Green and Ramona Cooper
Donation protected
On Saturday June 26th, the town of Winthrop was shocked and saddened by an act of racial violence. This horrific act took the lives of our dear neighbors David Green and Ramona Cooper. In remembrance of their lives, their neighbors and friends, along with the entire Winthrop community want to fill the street with life and plant a line of trees on each side of Shirley Street between Cross Street and Beach Road, as well as a memorial plaque. This living memorial will serve to remind us all of the power and importance of loving our neighbors. As was said at the candlelight vigil , “[We] promise both families tonight that their loved ones were not lost in vain. [We] promise them we won’t just remember them tonight. We’ll remember them next week, next month, and next year."
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to cover the costs of this memorial. Contributions may be made directly to the Winthrop Tree Committee or through this GoFundMe page being managed by friends and neighbors. As a reminder, contributions made through this GoFundMe page will have the processing fee deducted. You can also contribute directly to the Town of Winthrop with Cooper Green Memorial written in the memo. Checks can be mailed to 1 Metcalf Square, Room 8, Winthrop, MA 02152.
