Hi, my name is Misty and I'm setting up this fundraiser for help to celebrate Codys life the way he deserves to be celebrated. I want to start by telling you a little about Cody.
Anyone who knew Cody knew he was in love with the highway and driving. From a very young age he knew he was going to make a living driving. For most of his life, he did just that, in various capacities. He delivered school buses and other large vehicles cross country and then moved onto working with foster kids, driving them around the state of Kansas to visits, Dr. Appts, court appearances, and other places. He was employed with Greyhound byline as a bus driver at the time of his accident.
Cody was always that go to guy, the type of person who was always there to help, no questions asked, no matter what it was. He had a genuine love for helping people not only the people he knew, but also people he didn't know. He volunteered for Red Cross for several years, assisting those in need. He would go after a house fire and help the family with necessities, he traveled to natural disaster sites to assist, he often drove around delivering things from one location to the next, sometimes as far as Nebraska, and many other things. He was so proud to be part of the Red Cross.
On July 7th, 2021 Cody was in a very bad car accident that left him with severe injuries, on a vent for 2mos, and a partial quadraplegic. He fought and recovered well from the injuries sustained in the accident. While in SICU at KU, Cody developed a preasure ulcer. Without going into great detail, after the long battle recovering from his injuries from the accident, his body was too tired to heal this wound.
On January 24th, Cody passed peacefully at home. With hotel and travel expenses incurred from staying with Cody during his stays at the hospital over the last 7mos, finances are strained so I come here in hopes that extended friends and family will be able to help to give Cody the celebration of life he deserves.
