Chee Yang, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and co-worker passed away December 7th, 2020. Chee was devoted to her family, community, and her work.
Chee worked at Valley Crisis Center in Merced, CA since 2012. She began her work in the Emergency Shelter for Domestic Violence survivors and worked her way up into the Director position. She was passionate and committed to the work of preventing and ending domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking.
Chee's dedication to the work extended beyond Merced, CA. She was one of the co-founders of California Hmong Advocates Network, empowering Hmong advocates throughout California to ensure Hmong survivors were provided what they needed. In December of 2016, Chee traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand as a Building Our Future delegate from California to the first Global Hmong Women's Summit, where over 100 Hmong community advocates from the USA, France, Thailand, Laos, and Viet Nam gathered and learned from each other and established a strong global network of Hmong social justice activities working toward gender equity.
Her sudden passing has left the family with medical and memorial expenses that they need help with. This fundraiser will remain open through December 31st, 2020.
Funds will be collected will be directly put into the family's bank account.
