Phoebe Simpson's Memorial Fundraiser

Donation protected

On Thursday, June 25th, Phoebe lost her battle with a crippling condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa; a condition that has been called the cruellest condition known.

Phoebe will be laid to rest at St. Marcelas in Denbigh. Once COVID rules are lifted the family are planning to have a Remembrance service to celebrate Phoebe's life with everyone she touched. It's so difficult having to handpick only 20 people at this time for the private funeral, we all know how popular she was.

Nobody is ever ready for their child to die even if they live with a life-limiting condition; No one is ever prepared for this.

Phoebe and her family have always done everything for others and would never ask for help, throughout lockdown her Dad has been unable to work, due to Phoebe shielding and prioritising her health.

So I have set this up to try and collect some donations to help cover the unexpected cost of Phoebe’s funeral and give her a beautiful send-off.

Even with this degenerative debilitating condition, Phoebe did not let that stop her.  She lived a life full of excitement and love, filled with memories everyone will cherish forever.

Dancing at Janes School of Dance in Denbigh, she would squeeze her little feet into tiny ballet slippers even if they hurt. The dancing would form blistering but that wasn’t going to stop her, she loved it and that is all that mattered.

Once she turned 18 and was well enough, she loved heading out for cocktails with her friend Mia.

In a way, lockdown brought the family closer together, her Dad, along with her sisters Bethany and Connie were able to help her mum Caroline in the everyday care of Phoebe. Phoebe also leaves her brother Robert who since they were both young enjoyed many family holidays together.

3 years ago we all thought we were going to lose her when she became very poorly.  She had a long stay at Birmingham Children's Hosptial, from that point her condition took her ability to walk and caused her the most excruciating pain.

But even at the end, just a few hours before her passing, a nurse had asked her mum and dad the question if Phoebe had dentures; even in her very ill condition, she chippered in  'No that'll be my Dad.’
She really did have a wicked personality.

In her Dads words, she may have only been a dinky dot but we can tell you all that she was a fighter to the end. Brave as a lion.

The family cannot thank enough those who played a vital role in Phoebe’s care from birth to death. They are so lucky to have the NHS behind them.

Phoebe’s legacy will live on forever.
She is now for the first time in her life out of pain, and with EB1 (Lauren her cousin who passed 5 years ago with the same condition) EB1 & EB2 together again.

The funds raised will be given straight to the family to help pay for the funeral and a beautiful memorial for our beautiful butterfly.
