On Monday September 26, 2022, our mother Jessica returned to the earth after 53 years of life.
In June, we learned that the cancer she had overcome once before had returned, this time taking hold in her spine and almost completely paralyzing her. Shortly after, we also found out that it had spread to her brain. She immediately began radiation treatment and spent the next several months in the hospital as well as a rehabilitation center to try to regain movement in her legs. After two long months of inpatient treatment Jessica was finally able to go home and spend time with her husband, which is the only place she ever wanted to be.
After returning home, she began chemotherapy treatments and we had all become hopeful for her recovery and grateful that we were given more time to be with her. We were all waiting on the results from her last MRI, which we were expecting to receive on 9/26. Unfortunately, some time the night before, Jessica passed away in her sleep.
Although our time with her was cut far shorter than any of us expected, we are still grateful for every second that we were able to spend with her before her passing. She was very sweet, thoughtful, and loving. She always treated everyone that came through our home as her own. Although we can find solace in knowing that she is no longer in pain, her absence in our lives will be felt for the rest of our lives.
Our mother wished to be cremated upon her passing, as several of our family members have been before her. We humbly ask for assistance during this time so we can fulfill her request, and give her a memorial where we can celebrate the life she lived as we say our goodbyes.
