Memorial Expenses for Helen Ike
Donation protected
My mother, Helen Ugochukwu Nnennaya Ike, passed away on October 29, 2018 after a very short battle with aggressive kidney cancer. She died just shy of her 55th birthday and did not have preparations set for her burial. Those who encountered her, even if for a brief time, know the extraordinary level of kindness she freely expressed to everyone. She cooked her famous rice and stew for every Nigerian event, bought groceries for struggling college students, and would sacrifice her last dollar to anyone in need just so she could share the love of God with them. Some might say she was kind to a fault. At the time of her death, her sickness had affected her brain and impaired her work. She was struggling for money, but still had faith and continued to help support others in need, leaving herself with nearly depleted funds. My mother is so loved by all; we really want the opportunity to celebrate her life and honor her properly, according to our Igbo (Nigerian) customs. Basic costs set our figures at just under $10,000. Any and all donations will support our efforts and are deeply appreciated. Funeral and viewing arrangements are being made for Friday, November 16th and Saturday, November 17th. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thank you so much for your support! -Nneka
UPDATE: With the love and support we've received thus far, we have been able to secure the funeral home and purchase a cemetery plot for my mother. All additional funds will be used to secure the wake/reception venue and support the needs of the estate. Thank you all so much for your kindness. God bless!
