Our names are Doug & Katie. On 2/7/22 we had our beautiful little girl at 30 weeks due to Katie having severe pre eclampsia that was shutting down her kidneys and killing her. She was induced to save them both. Our little fighter came into this world perfectly at 9:20pm that night. Katie on the other hand hemorrhaged severely and started a whole new phase of trying to survive. After what felt like forever she was finally able to see our baby. Our little girl Briar April was fighting and every day she got better and better. But On 2/17 it was obvious something was wrong, by the time it was caught it was close to too late. She was flown from her current NICU to CHOP NICU where she was immediately given surgery to help save her little life but it was too late. She was kept alive for us to be with her just a bit longer and passed peacefully in her daddy’s arms. A pain we can not imagine. A pain we had no idea we would ever feel. For years we battled infertility and losses. Between 1 failed IUI and 6 IVF cycles, 3 surgeries, miscarriage and many many blood draws and tests we finally had our family. Our girl was wanted so badly. We unfortunately did not prepare for this. We never imagined this would happen to us. We never ask for help but I am swallowing my pride today to ask. Between the unexpected early delivery causing us to miss work to now planning a funeral for our baby we are really struggling. My baby deserves the best memories of her and we are so scared we can not do that. Please please help us give her the goodbye she deserves.
