Losing my mom so suddenly has been incredibly hard for me and my family. She was an amazing person who always went out of her way to help everyone she knew—even my boyfriend when he ran out of gas for the twentieth time. I’m kidding, but that’s just the kind of person she was: generous, funny, and always ready to bring light into any room. Her passing was unexpected, and we’re still coming to terms with the loss.

My mom was diagnosed with a mental illness that ultimately overcame her with time. Despite her struggles, she remained a loving mother and a wonderful friend to so many. Everyone who knew her has a story about her kindness or her sense of humor. She truly made the world a brighter place for those around her.

We are planning a memorial service and cremation this week to honor her memory and celebrate the good times we shared.
