Dear Friends and Family,
We are raising money to help Kathryn (Kit) and Little Toby (10 years old) after the sudden loss of their husband/dad.
Toby Kaufman (senior) passed away sometime last night 1/14/21 or this morning 1/15/21 while sleeping. He was only 47 years old. He died of medical complications following a very difficult year battling various health issues.
Most people that know Toby know he has faced medical challenges for most of his life - foreseeable consequences of a terrible accident when he was 10 years old that nearly killed him. In 1983, Toby was riding his bike, when he was struck by a drunk driver. The driver was so drunk he didn't even stop to help Toby. Perhaps, he didn't even know he hit him. He continued to drive, causing further damage, but Toby was found and got the help he needed. At one point in the hospital, Toby was pronounced dead, but he fought hard and pulled through. After spending several weeks in a coma, Toby eventually regained consciousness, his memories returned, and he eventually recovered. But Toby had a long road ahead. This accident resulted in trauma that would persist and take many forms throughout his entire life, including brain trauma, severe ear trauma, heart complications, and many physical scars.
Despite these challenges, Toby went on to live a happy life as a son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, friend, and a loving husband and father. Toby was a lover of all animals, and all animals loved him back. He enjoyed reading, watching the history channel, playing video games, and collecting coins and memorabilia. He loved Star Wars and the Chicago Bears, pizza and cherry tomatoes. Above all else, Toby loved his wife and little boy with all of his heart and soul.
His wife, Kit, is the sweetest, most supportive and loving wife Toby ever could have found. She understood him in a way nobody else did, and she loved him and accepted him exactly how he was. Kit and Kit's family were paramount in ensuring he was cared for, especially in his final years, which wasn't always an easy task.
We want to surround Kit and Little Toby with love and support during this difficult time. It certainly was unexpected to lose Toby so suddenly and at such a young age. We are raising money to help ease the burden of some of the costs associated with his passing. We are hoping to raise at least $2000 to cover the basic costs of his cremation and memorial services. Anything you may be able to contribute will be a blessing and much appreciated. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to Kit Kaufman.
