Memorial park bench in memory of Ruth Glass

Hello. We are Ruth's cousin, Kerry, and niece, Colleen.

The world lost an inspirational friend and fellow nature lover, Ruth Glass, after a valiant battle with cancer last November 2021. Ruth spent her life enlightening others about nature and the environment. She especially had an intimate love of birds that she felt compelled to share with others!

Ruth's generosity touched countless people over the years as she shared delightful days walking in the parks bird watching, and teaching them what they needed to become capable bird watchers. Ruth always explained in passionate detail what you were seeing, but also the behaviors and interactions the animals had with the environment. She had a unique ability to connect us with the birds and could literally have them eating out of your hand! We have been blessed to have Ruth as a special person in our lives and we will always have our favorite memories of her to share with each other.

In her memory we are hoping to attain sufficient funding to purchase a park bench through Oakland Charter Township that would be initially placed in the Paint Creek Trail park access area and eventually moved to the trail system at the Stony Creek Ravine Park once that system is completed. We hope you will take the opportunity to help keep Ruth's memories alive by contributing to this bench that will be named in her honor.
