Memorial bench in memory of Duncan Cartledge
Donation protected
As many people will have recently heard, unfortunately Duncan Cartledge passed away on Sunday 2nd June. Duncan had been unwell for some time and had spend many of the previous nine months in hospital.
A post mortem has been carried out since Duncan’s passing and we hope that will shed light on the reasons for his illness. Duncans funeral will take place on Thursday 11th July 2019 at Barham Crematorium near Canterbury.
The family have requested that there are no flowers at the funeral, I think we all know that Dunc would have thought ‘that’s a waste of money’ It has been suggested that a bench in Deal, where Dunc moved to after meeting Jade, would be a great tribute to a wonderful lad. After Dunc moved to Deal he enjoyed many walks along the seafront and had the best times of his all too short life, with his wonderful family, Jade and Lily. Dunc especially loved the fish and chip shop across from the paddling pool - Mario’s. He always liked his food!
Whilst a bench can be relatively inexpensive, site fees are not. Our aim is to raise £1500 which should be an amount high enough to purchase a bench and the site fees. If, and hopefully when, we go over the target the remaining funds will be donated to a charity. The charity is of yet undecided as we await the post mortem results but will be linked to the outcome.
Duncan undoubtedly touched and influenced many people. Duncan was a lad that never realised how much people thought of him, never realised how much he was loved. I wish I had told him more! I think it’s time we all showed him.
