Memorial bench honoring Kristie Pennington
Donation protected
In November we lost Kristie Pennington, one of the most caring, funny, creative, fun, talented and kind humans we all will ever know. Her former Girl Scout troop, her daughters Penelope and Parker, her husband Noel, and her good friends would like to honor her memory by building memorial bench sitting on a hill in Smith Park with a spectacular overlook view. Our Girl Scout troop has already had a pretty Red Maple tree planted at the site on Jan. 18th, and now we are hoping to raise enough money to have the park system add a bench under the tree. We would also like to have the bench include a plaque with Kristie's name and a dedication. Our hope is that friends and family can come sit and enjoy the view and think of Kristie, and that all park visitors can come have a spot to sit for a moment to reflect on the beauty of the view. We know that Kristie would have loved that. Any amount, even small, would help us reach our goal so that we can have the bench installed in the next few months. Thank you!
PS: if you plan to hike to Kristie's tree, as you enter the park trailhead, stay left up the hill, and you will see a newly planted Red Maple on your right, overlooking the park enterance. If you happen to find a heart shaped rock on your hike, please leave it at the base of the tree in remembrance of Kristie, or in honor of someone else who needs a little prayer.
