Memorial Bench for Rock Cut State Park

Dawn Thrall DVM, 45, of Caledonia, IL, passed away peacefully, early Tuesday morning, May 31, 2022. Dawn was born September 27, 1976, the daughter of George and Lori (Swanson) Clausen. She married Kevin Thrall on May 30th, 1998 in Buffalo Grove.
 
Dawn was an avid runner and workout enthusiast. She enjoyed being a fitness instructor at Peak with her RPM class as well as running with the Coyotes Club under the nickname 'Tink.'
 
Dawn was an ultra-runner who participated in 5 – 10K races, marathon races, as well as 50 mile ultra races.
 
Dawn had a love for animals that was clear through her work as a veterinarian since 2003 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and most recently working at the Animal Emergency Clinic of Rockford. In her personal life, her dedication to the family hobby farm and beekeeping with Daybreak's Bees Honey was complete and she was reunited with many loved pets at the Rainbow Bridge.
 
Dawn was an emotionally strong woman, a passionate wife, a loving mother and a fierce friend. People who know her well would call her feisty and loving. Dawn made a huge impact on everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Kevin Thrall DVM; her children, Keegan Richard (14) and Autumn Keelyn (12); her mother, Lori Clausen; her siblings, Melanie (Mark) Carinato, Andrea Clausen, Anna Clausen, Richard Clausen; father in law, Gary Thrall; mother in law, Lana Thrall; brother in law, Brian Thrall; sister in law, Carrie Thrall; nieces, Emmie Carinato and Alex Thrall; as well as many friends.
 
Dawn is preceded in death by her father, George Clausen; aunt Catherine Dean; grandparents, Richard "PopPop" and Sara Lee "GramGram" Clausen as well as Alvin and Lois Swanson.
 
Dawn’s memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm., Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Redeemer Church Rockford, 5501 Windsor Rd, Loves Park, IL 61111. Dawn’s visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 5:45 pm with service to follow at 6:00 pm. Pastor John Dirkse will officiate.
 
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to help fund a memorial bench planned to be placed at Rock Cut State Park on the path around the lake where she so commonly ran and her family frequently visit.
