Memorial Bench for our ‘Great Dane’
On Monday 20th July we lost our ‘Great Dane’
I know for many of his friends and family it came as quite a shock. Dane was a very private proud man. He didn’t want people’s pity. He wanted to be remembered for who he is.... A stubborn, strong minded, kind, opinionated, hard working, adventurous, loving man (who on many occasions could turn the air a beautiful shade of blue).
Although the battle was short, Dane as determined as ever refused to go without a fight, and fight he did. We as a family are so very proud of him.
Thanks to covid-19 we were only able to provide Dane with a small and very personal final journey and I know there were many people that were unable to pay their respects.
With this in mind (and the fact that Dane had specifically requested no flowers), we thought it would be a nice idea to get a memorial bench in his name. We had thought a bench at the Garrison where Dane loved to fish or Southend seafront would be fitting locations as that was where Dane was most at peace, by the sea.
He may be gone, but he definitely made sure he will never be forgotten and that the stories and adventures he had will never get old.
Happy fishing Dane, I dread to think of what you may be getting up to up there xxx
