Memorial Bench for Nadia at Kortright Centre
Donation protected
As we all continue to live our lives without our beloved Nadia, we are constantly reminded of her. Whether it’s a song, a story, a smell, a date on the calendar or a memory that pops in your head, she remains such a significant part of our world. She left her mark in so many places and we are working on a memorial to commemorate her and one of the many things she has left us with. The Kortright Centre for Conservation in Vaughan is a natural oasis that provides leading edge sustainable education. Nadia played an integral role in creating a program called Growing with Nature which provides an inclusive environment for preschool-aged children with special needs to participate in outdoor education and developmental activities in a natural setting.
Adjacent to where this program is offered, the Kortright Centre will be planting an Oak Tree in Nadias memory. Under that tree we would like to install a bench. This bench will be a place to remember Nadia that is in a beautiful location open to the public and, as Nadia was, will be many things to many people. It will be a resting place, a place for kids to climb, a destination when we need some peace and tranquility, a place where she can continue to bring people together, and most importantly a place where we can connect with Nadias spirit.
We have been tasked with raising $6000 to pay for the manufacture, and installation of a large log bench and plaque that will stand for many years in this location. There will be a gathering in late summer/fall for the tree planting and bench installation.
Your contributions are greatly appreciated. Any funds in excess of the amount needed for the bench and plaque will be donated to the Children’s Treatment Network Family fund, an organization close to Nadias heart.
Thank you
