Memorial Bench for Kent on Golden Gate Park Golf Course
Donation protected
June 23, 2025 UPDATE:
Thanks very much for making our dream a reality. We had over 30 people at the dedication of Kent's bench at the Golden Gate Park Golf Course. People came as far as Massachusetts and Virginia to help celebrate Kent. I have included a few pictures from the event on this site. We appreciate your donations. The bench now sits overlooking the Pacific Ocean at GGP GC. I know personally, and from many people I spoke to, we'll be enjoying that bench when we golf or even just come up to the clubhouse for a burger dog and beer. I encourage you whether you're local to the Bay Area, or coming for a visit to the Bay Area to come by and see the bench, sit on it and think about your memories of our good friend.
Wishing you well,
Stephen DeLuco
This GoFundMe was created for the purpose of funding a golf bench with an engraving with Kent’s name and a short inscription. It’s meant as a testament to Kent, his family, and his friends touched by his loss. The goal of this GoFundMe is $6k, which covers the bench, engraving, and 10-year term from SF Parks Endowment.
The bench, with a bronze engraving, will be one of only two benches atop the Golden Gate Park Golf Course overlooking much of the course and the Pacific Ocean. The inscription on the engraving will read:
KENT ALLEN
1965 – 2025
Devoted Husband, Father,
Friend and Avid Golfer
For KBSW From His Friends
If you're not a golfer or don't live in the area, the recently renovated Golden Gate Park Golf Course has tremendous views overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Marin Headlands, and SF. Kent became very passionate about golf, at times golfing after sunset when other critters (foxes, deer, etc.) shared the course. In the parking lot after golf, Kent and his friends would break out the cooler, drink beers, listen to Johnny Cash, The Band, Tom Petty, and discuss the round and the world.
Jane and I worked with many departments in San Francisco to get approval for this bench. The bench is a nice legacy and tribute to Kent.
