Joe "Joey Doughnuts" Dufresne brought so much life, laughter, and kindness to everyone he met. His generosity and sense of humor made every gathering brighter, and he had a special way of making everyone feel welcome. Joe’s love for Truckee and its people was unmatched, and he found true joy spending time at Donner Lake, his favorite place.
After Joe’s passing, I wanted to create a lasting tribute that would honor his memory and give friends, family, and the entire community a place to remember him. That’s why I’m raising funds for a memorial bench at the boat launch at Donner Lake in Truckee, CA. The bench will feature a plaque with Joe’s name, his birth and death dates, and the words: “Thank you for all the laughter and love you brought us.” This spot will be a permanent place for everyone to visit, reflect, and celebrate the joy Joe brought into our lives.
Your support will help cover the cost of the bench, the plaque, shipping, installation, and the necessary fees from the parks department. This bench is not just a tribute to Joe, but a gift to the community he loved so much. Thank you for helping us honor his memory and keep his spirit alive in the place he cherished most.
