In lieu of flowers, and to commemorate the life of James Schlachter, 76, of Vacaville, California, this fund has been created to collect small donations that will be used to place a memorial bench in a park in Santa Cruz County, California. 

Although Jim and his wife of 39 years, Kathy, spent most of their lives together in Solano County, their hearts were always in the beautiful beaches and redwood forests of Santa Cruz, where they met and fell in love in 1977.  The exact location of the bench is still to be determined.
