Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible generosity shown by our community. Our fundraising appeal for Alison's memorial bench has reached its target.
When the weather cancelled our Christmas stall plans not once but twice, we worried how we would be able to make this memorial happen. But you've all proved that rain can't dampen the spirit of this wonderful community.
All funds will go to Radyr Guide Centre for Alison's bench and installing it at Centre– a lasting tribute at the heart of the place she loved.
From all the Guides who are still crafting away (and who can't wait to see the bench!) and all the leaders – thank you for your amazing support
Our Story
In the summer of 2024, our beloved 4th Radyr Guides leader, Allison, suddenly passed away. Her loss has left a profound gap in our community, and we want to honour her memory in a lasting and meaningful way.
The Memorial
We are raising funds to install a memorial bench at Radyr Guide Hall, where Allison dedicated so much of her time, energy, and heart to guiding young people. This bench will serve as a place for reflection, rest, and remembrance—a lasting tribute to someone who gave so much to our Guides and the wider Radyr community.
Our Fundraising Journey
We initially planned to raise money through a craft stall at the Radyr Christmas Lights switch-on. The Guides have been busy creating beautiful handmade items to sell, pouring their creativity and love into each piece. Unfortunately, the event was cancelled due to weather in 2024, and again in 2025.
Rather than let the weather defeat us (as Allison would never have done!), we've decided to take our fundraising online. We hope this platform will prove more reliable than the Welsh winter weather.
How You Can Help
Any donation, large or small, will help us create this permanent memorial to Allison. If you knew Allison, were touched by her work with the Guides, or simply want to support our community in honouring a remarkable leader, we would be deeply grateful for your contribution.
Thank you for helping us remember Allison and ensure her legacy continues at Radyr Guide Hall.
