Memorial Bench for Abelardo Ortega Casiano at D.W. Field
Donation protected
I’m Michelle Henson and I’m hoping to raise money for a memorial bench up at D.W. Field Park where he and my husband frequently walked together. Hoping honor their friendship and give those who loved him a place to sit and remember.
Abelardo Ortega Casiano Obituary
Abelardo Ortega Casiano, 75, of Boston, passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2025 with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Abelardo Ortega and Emelina Casiano. Abelardo served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He began his working career in the hotel industry before his lengthy career with the V.A. Medical Center as a driver, which spanned over 20 years until his retirement. Abelardo loved his work helping fellow veterans.
Abelardo’s spirit was one of generosity, humor, and kindness. He never missed an opportunity to help anyone in need. He loved socializing, working out, and spending time in Cape Cod with his family and beautiful wife Ivonne, walking the sandy beaches and taking in the sunsets.
Abelardo was the beloved husband of Ivonne A. ( Gutierrez ) Ortega for 60 years; devoted father of Barbara M. Alicea and her husband Edgar of Brockton, Abelardo Ortega Jr. and his wife Niquel of Mansfield, Jason R. Ortega of Brockton, Princess A. Ortega of Boston, and Miatta D. Ortega Boggio of Windsor, CT; dear grandfather of Adriana, twins Analise and Abigail, Sadida, Netaya, Ja'Hari, twins Jason Reid and Antonio, Abelardo “AJ", Izaiah, Jason M. “Baby J”, Ethan, and Jayda. Abelardo is also survived by three sisters, one brother, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
I received permission from his daughter, Barbara, to launch this fundraiser.
