Hi, I'm Lisa, Geoff Evans' eldest daughter.

Dad sadly passed away on 1st September suddenly and unexpectedly after his health deteriorated quickly.

My dad is popular and well known around Stanfree and Clowne, where he's lived for the past 20+years (East Ave & High St), and also in Whitwell where his family and children (Lisa, Mark, Yvonne-Marie, Sophie and Dawn) grew up on Portland Street, and we all loved the village life.

Dad has litter picked, dug out ditches and drains along the roadside and contacted the council tirelessly to keep his neighbourhood tidy and safe.

He was particularly worried about the bridge in Stanfree under the M1, where huge chunks of the roof had fallen when they installed the barrier above, and I'd helped him report it to The Highways Agency and local council.

He also had a soft spot for stray or neglected animals, and worked tirelessly with the Cats Protection to help the strays on East Avenue, but they simply neutered them and brought them back.

In the many messages of condolence for Dad, the local community have said they would like to get him a memorial bench. We'd love to encourage everyone to “Pick up where he left off,” so we’d like to raise enough funds for a memorial bench and a rubbish bin beside it, to inspire the community to keep Stanfree and Clowne tidy in his honour.

A few years ago, the community raised money for new litter‑picking equipment, high‑vis gear and even a bike to help him out. He was so touched by that kindness. It meant the world to him.

Now, we’d love to create a lasting legacy — something that reflects who he was, what he stood for, and how much he gave to the place he loved.
