On 8/16 at 3:37am, my sister, Yolanda Chaytor, was murdered at Maxwells in Chicago on Independence & Harrison Street after a heated argument. She was 30 years old. She was shot multiple times in the head and body by an unknown man, who then left in a silver SUV, and our family is still trying to process this horrific and unexpected loss. What makes this even harder is that she leaves behind three small children who now need immediate care and support.
We are grieving while also trying to do everything we can to properly lay Yolanda to rest and make sure her children are okay. As we fight for justice for Yolanda, we are also trying to handle funeral and care arrangements for her children. This loss has shaken our family to the core, and I never imagined we would be facing something like this while trying to hold each other together.
The funds raised will help us give Yolanda a memorial service as soon as possible and cover the immediate needs of her children, including back-to-school supplies, housing, clothing, and personal items. Right now, our focus is on honoring her life and making sure her children are cared for during this devastating time.
I was reluctant to ask for help, but this is bigger than my pride or personal choices. If you are able to give, any heartfelt donation would mean so much to my family. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Thank you for helping us support Yolanda's children and lay her to rest with love and dignity.
