Memorial & Relocation Expenses for Cheryl's Family
It is with great sadness that we share that Cheryl Yarck, longtime manager of the Sagehen Café, passed away following a brief illness.
A beloved member of the Pomona College community, Cheryl was born in West Covina and went on to graduate from Fontana High School. A veteran of the food and restaurant business, Cheryl worked many years with Alain Girard, the former owner of Harvard Square Café and Viva Madrid in Claremont, and the original manager of the Sagehen Café. After Alain’s departure from Pomona, Cheryl assumed responsibility and management of the Sagehen Café, always greeting everyone with a warm smile and cheerful welcome. Cheryl loved the work she did with the Café and enjoyed getting to know so many members of the Pomona community over the years including staff, faculty, students, alumni and friends.
Cheryl is survived by her son Andrew Devault of Upland, her mother Kathryn Bridges of Upland, her brother Brian Yarck of Ontario, and her sister Khristina Wood and husband David of Adelaide, Australia. In addition, she had two loving nieces Sarah Yarck and Lilly Wood who she adored. Cheryl is also survived by her partner of many years, Doug Tolle of Ontario.
This GoFundMe account has been established to assist the family with funeral and relocation expenses and to assist Andrew in the coming months.
On behalf of the family, thank you for your generosity during this difficult time.
