Memorial and Headstone for Marleen
We're Alira and Colin - daughter and son of the beautiful soul we called our Mum, Marleen.
Mum was very sadly and suddenly taken from us far too soon on the 14th of July 2021 while still in her prime. She had so much more life to live and love to give and we had hoped for many more years together to share in the experiences and the joys of life ahead.
Mum was a single parent and worked hard to provide a loving home while always thinking of others. Throughout her life she volunteered with many organisations including Rotary and the RSPCA, at community kitchens as well as helping children with learning difficulties and disability to achieve their goals and feel supported.
She also volunteered to assist with history tours and restorations at the historic South Brisbane Cemetery with the Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery group. We are very fortunate to be able to lay her to rest there, in what is certainly one of the places that was most special to her.
We would like to invite those of you who knew and loved her and anyone who can help to assist us in commissioning a memorial and headstone to honour her life and her legacy. We will be engaging a master stonemason to create something special that reflects the wonderful and unique woman she was, and how much she meant to us and the community. Any excess funds over and above our target will be donated to the Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery group or to other charity organisations she supported to help them continue the wonderful and important work that they do.
