Calling all Angels -
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved Vance Garcia has passed very suddenly. While we are all in a state of shock and devastated by the immediate impact – the full weight will be with us forever.
Vance became ill in mid-March and went into the hospital at that time. Things escalated quickly and once in the hospital, he never left. His mother Judith, his brother Russell and sister Jody were by his side when Vance transitioned in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
We are organizing a memorial celebration aimed to take place this summer to send our beloved Brother home with the Artistry, Beauty, Creativity, and Love that he brought to all of us.
We need your financial help to create the vibrational “Vance Light” and vibrant sound waves to carry his spirit over. Calling all Angels to walk him through this world.
Immense gratitude in advance for your donations in helping us with his end-of-life expenses and to celebrate him with all the Light and Joy that he embodied and shared with us.

Vance was the epitome of a “Brother” — whether actual, adopted, “big brother,” or companion in the constant struggle, he was always there. Beloved friend, artist, musician, and consummate rock ’n’ roller, Vance was the nucleus of a vast creative community. From music to sound engineering to photography and visual art — his artistry knitted together a rich and dynamic tapestry of people from all walks.
Above all else, in everything he did, it was his “jam” to simply be there and help others.
Born in 1961 in NYC, Vance was the first grandchild of the family. He was a devoted grandson; beloved son and brother, adored by his mother and two siblings, a loving, compassionate, precocious nephew; and the embodiment of “cool” to his sweet niece and countless cousins.
Born in a storied family tree of gifted musicians, Vance’s roots ran deep with branches that extended far and wide. Vance’s love of music was undeniable. As a musician, he quickly became a staple and central, unifying presence in the East Village alt-rock scene of NYC, and a beloved part of that wider community.
Vance had a quiet mystique. Tall and good-looking, with his mischievous smile and dry wit. He had an inviting warmth and the best laugh with which he embraced all. Whenever he walked into a room, his very presence evoked a communal cheer that “Vance is here!”
Once again, we thank you in advance for your donations in helping us celebrate in a manner fitting of the beauty that is and will always be forevermore, our dear, beloved Vance Garcia.
“Hey Man” ... Your voice will always be with us.
We look forward to thanking you in person this summer should you be able to attend. More details on the date and location to come.
Lovingly,
Devoted family of Vance Garcia
