❤Meme's Fight❤
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Rachel, and because
I have seen so many wonderful people donating for great causes, I thought I'd try and reach out for help.
Dec 29th 2014 we found out my mom had cancer. It was a complete shock and made us think twice about what was really important in life. Life is precious. I have 2 daughters and they have the best relationship with their meme. She isn't the normal 'see you every once in a while' grandma. She has stayed with us every weekend for the past 13 years. She is a huge part of our lives, and the thought of my kids and I losing her, is just unimaginable.
My mom underwent chemo and radiation starting in January 2015. She had a CT and PET scan in June and was deemed clear of cancer. We were so grateful that she had beat the odds. Unfortunately, at her 3 month check up, she found out it had come back. In fact, it never went away. The scans she received weren't accurate. The cancer is now spreading but she is such a fighter. She has what they call 'cancer of an unknown primary'. They don't know where exactly the primary source is and where it all stems from. We were/are devastated that this is not yet behind us. Last week she had surgey to remove lymph nodes and the parotid gland (salivary gland). While in surgery they found a tumor hiding behind the parotid gland they had removed. Due to the tumor being so close to the temporal bone, they had to schedule another surgery for part of the bone to be removed. Along with the temporal bone, they also had to remove her eardrum and close off the ear canal on the right side. This surgery will require a 10 day stay in the hospital and then a few weeks of recovery time. After she recovers from the surgeries, she will start aggressive chemo and radiation treatments in mid- February. Due to all of this, she will be unable to work for some time. That is something that is really hard for her. She has always loved working and taking care of people. She has been a nurse for the elderly for 38 years and would love nothing more than to be able to care for them. The cost of having/fighting cancer and the bills that are accrued, is unreal. I would like to take this time to help her raise money for the financial hardship she will endure. Someone who is going through something so traumatic and fighting for their life, should not have to worry and stress about how they are going to pay their bills.
So I ask, if you have any amount to donate, anything at all, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post!
Sincerely,
Rachel Green
