1940s Melton Mowbray Community event is bringing the spirit of 1930s 40s, 50s and
60s, Britain alive with a vintage festival here in Melton Mowbray on the weekend of
May 9th/10th 2026, 10am - 5pm.
There will be a range of exciting events taking place all around the park, stretching
into St Mary's Church. the market place, onto Nottingham Street and into the
Stockyard, where you can step back into the 1950s & 60s.
The 1940s Melton Mowbray has become a popular, annual attraction in the towns
summer events calender and has great benifit to our retail and hospitality sectors
bringing in revenue and footfall to our historic town.
The event is organised by a small group of volunteers who come together each year
to bring the 1940s spirit alive enjoyed by thousands of visitors from all over the
country.
The event is only possible by the kind generosity of our local buisnisses and
community by means of sponsorship as as you can imagine hosting this community
event as a considerable cost and for the 5 previous years our community and
buisnesses has stepped up and made the event possible.
1940s Melton Mowbray has always been a free addmission event and it is important
to us all that it remains a free event for all to enjoy over the two day event.
To give you a idea of cost involved in hosting this event, we have listed some of our
expenditure for 2026, some expenditure is regulatory and ensures the event is fully
compliant with Health & Safety and other licensing requirments.

With the rise in the cost of living, buisness rates, insurance, energy costs, etc,
buisnesses are having to tighten their belts when it comes to sponsoring community
events, which is why we have set up the "1940s Go Fund ME." to help cover the costs
on this years event and make sure it remains a free addmission event for everyone to
enjoy.
As a free entry event it allows everyone to enjoy the event and spend their money in
anyway they want to without having to budget for any admission charge, which would
be rather costly for a family.
Please help support the continued success of the 1940s Melton Mowbray Community
event by making a contribution, every penny helps and is very much appreciated,and
every penny goes into making your visit to 1940s Melton Mowbray a memorable one.
Every penny that is raised for the 1940s Melton Mowbray Community event goes into
the event and none of the committee members/organisers or its representatives
recieve any form of financial renumeration for their services.
Our target is £8,000 and should any funds be left over once all invoices are paid post
event will be carried over towards 2027s event.
