Hey there for those who don't know me my name is Melanie. My story is as follows; when I was a wee lil kid, one years old to be exact I was involved in a very serious accident involving my father and a pellet gun. I was shot in the eye and rushed to sick kids hospital where I was in critical condition for several months and the doctors thought I would either die or have brain damage. Lucky fate was on my side and I came through the accident alive and with no brain damage. I lived with the bullet in my head until grade 11 when it was removed due to severe headaches. A coral implant was replaced in it's place to help the eye move. Since then I have had to live with this burden, every severval years I must get a new eye replaced for my growing body and to prevent infection (plus it feels so great for me everytime I get a new eye). I have had to deal with pain and infections all my life and it especially bothers me close to when a new eye is in need.

As an adult I have to go in every 5 yrs to get the new eye made and then get it cleaned every month to keep dirt and bacteria away so there is no infection. Not doing so could lead to further damage in my other eye or the rest of my body.

The cost is pretty high for this approx. $2000  now the price has gone up plus the $75 a month for cleaning and I still owe $250 from the last eye they made plus taxes. It also costs more throughout the year if I grow and have to get a build up it could be $500-800.

As most of you know I have left retail and have been job searching to change my career and have had the sudden situation of having to move, so I do not have benifits nor will I have the money to pay for all of this for a long while.

It has been many years long over due that I have needed a new eye. I have been a super trooper about it but it's at the point now it has been bothering me alot!!! The eye has sunken into the socket, its itchy, red, sore, swollen and constant discharge. I have bad headaches and sharp pains behind my eye.My body is rejecting the old eye so I must get the new eye made ASAP i can no longer put up with this burden any longer the mental and physical pain has become unbarable. i could use a little help.

It could be highly dangerous and quite frankly I have been feeling less confident in interviews because of it and it has made findin a job seem utterly hopeless so I would just love to be able to go into my doctors office with confindence and get it done ASAP!!!

I don't normally ask for help ever my pride always gets the best of me but waking up with this every morning brings my day down. It constantly bothers me I annoy my bf acting like the pirate from pirates of the carrabian. "Stop touching it!" hahaha
