Melody’s Will: A Legacy of Love and Giving

Our Story — Melody’s Will

My name is Christopher Newton, and I’m the founder of Melody’s Will—but more importantly, I’m Melody’s son.

My mother was a survivor in every sense of the word. At just 11 years old, she lived through a devastating house fire that left her with third-degree burns across her body. For the rest of her life, she carried not just the scars, but an unshakable spirit. If you met her, you’d remember her smile, her grace, and her will to live fully.

Melody passed away in January 2025. Her loss shattered my world—but in her honor, I’ve created this nonprofit mission: Melody’s Will. This is more than a tribute. It’s a promise.

Melody’s Will exists to support survivors of fire-related trauma—especially those who don’t have the financial means my mother was blessed with.

We aim to provide:

• Access to trauma therapy and mental health services

• Financial help for essentials during recovery

• Long-term healing spaces for burn survivors to feel seen and supported

This GoFundMe is the first step.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to help establish the foundation, cover legal filing fees, establish 501(c)(3), and begin helping survivors directly. Every donation helps carry my mother’s strength forward—and reminds others that they’re not alone.
