Melody’s Fight with Fibromyalgia and Surgery
Donation protected
Hello friends!
My name is Melody and if you know me well, you would know that it takes a lot to get me down. I’m sometimes asked why I’m always so happy. I can honestly say that I’m fortunate to be loved by many and love making people smile. I wasn’t sure if I should share my story or start this funding page, but friends have supported my courage to do so. Here is what is happening lately in my world.
Unfortunately I’ve had a few medical set backs these last few years, but my spirit remains strong as well as my smile.
After numerous years of doctor appointments and being in constant pain, I was referred to a specialist last week and diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I also tested positive for an autoimmune disease called Systemic Scleroderma as well, which we are keeping an eye on. Neither are curable, but I’m going to learn how to manage the pain daily and keep a positive attitude
Unfortunately to make things a little more difficult, I also tore two tendons in my rotator cuff recently. I have little lady syndrome, where I think that I can carry things bigger than me just because I’m feisty I guess. I’m sure you have all seen me carrying musical instruments as a musician’s wife. I’m a great roadie most of the time. I never thought carrying piles of wood would do me in, but I was mistaken.
I have been doing Physical Therapy for a month now, but I will be needing surgery in a week or so.
Although I have a disability and now have to go through surgery as well as recovery, I have an incredible medical team and family. Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help me with medical expenses and having to take months off from work to recover and heal. Please do not feel obligated to donate, but if you want to send me encouraging messages to keep my spirits up during this time I’d love that.
Thank you all for reading my story, sharing and supporting me through this journey. I will make updates here on how surgery goes and recovery. I’m looking forward to kicking butt and I hope to see you all as soon as I’m able to give you one of my hugs!
Love,
Melody
