Melody's Fight Against Leukemia
Donation protected
Dear friends,
As some of you already know, Melody has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on August 20, 2018. What was supposed to be the happiest month of her life with her upcoming wedding, her and her loved ones were devastated with the heavy news. Fortunately, her diagnosis is a subtype of AML called Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL) which has a high prognosis rate (80-90 percent). She is currently undergoing her first round of chemotherapy which will be followed by other necessary treatments until her counts are normalized. Her estimated duration of inpatient care is 4-6 weeks and if everything goes according to plan, she will be discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, September 19, 2018.
Melody has always been a kind and generous person who cares deeply about her family and friends. She has an infectious laugh and a heart of gold. Although her diagnosis of cancer is not something easy to swallow, she’s not forgetting to smile and fight the battle day by day.
Most of us are aware that undergoing chemotherapy weakens the immune system leaving them at greater risk for viral and bacterial infections. This means that she will most likely not return to work immediately and will take months to fully recover. We are grateful if you can help alleviate some of the financial stress her and her family will experience through this rough time so they can focus on assisting her back to health. No donation is too small and we are forever grateful for any contributions you can make.
**All donations will go toward covering her immediate medical and personal expenses. Any remaining donations will go to Leukemia Foundation.
