On Thursday, March 7, 2024 while Melody was away at work, there was an electrical fire in the wall of her apartment. Unfortunately, her 11-month old English Bulldog, Toby, was trapped inside. The fire department reported that the fire had been smoldering in the wall for a couple of hours, producing toxic smoke before one of her neighbors noticed that the smoke alarm had been triggered and wasn’t going off. Fortunately, the neighbor saw flames coming through the roof of the apartment and called 911 before it was fully engulfed in flames.
Thankfully, Toby survived but had to be taken to an emergency veterinary clinic who reported that Toby was suffering the effects of smoke inhalation; he is slowly recovering.
Due to smoke, fire and other damage, Melody was only able to recover a small portion of her belongings and will need to replace virtually the entire contents of her apartment.
Please consider donating what you can to help replace some of Melody and Toby’s belongings and to offset other related costs as they continue their search for a new apartment.
