Small but Mighty Melody
Melody Cadez-Schmidt, three year old daughter of Adam and Taryn Cadez Schmidt, has spent the last several weeks at Sacred Heart battling what was, at first, an unknown illness. Once Melody was stabilized from a pneumonia like infection, they were able to perform a lung biopsy and discovered she has a rare condition called Langerhorns Cell Histiocytosis. Approximately 1 in 200,000 children are effected by this. Melody has a good prognosis and her treatment involves chemotherapy and steroidal treatment over the next year. They will travel to Spokane once weekly for the first six weeks of treatment and continued treatmeant for the next year will be determined by the results of the first six week round of treatments.
This young, hard working family does have some medical insurance for the children through their employers, but the co-pay is VERY high and with a years worth of treatment ahead of them and the current treatments that are already in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Add travel expenses, missed work and who knows what unforeseen expenses and this family is going to be overwhelmed.
I have set up this account as well as a direct donation account at P1FCU in the name of Melody Cadez-Schmidt with reluctant, but relieved, permission from the family, as they hate to ask for help, but they know they are going no to need it! Please help Adam and Taryn keep their feet under them during this very difficult time for their family. Anything helps!
