If you've met me, you've more than likely heard about my cat, my practical daughter, Melody. She was given to me through a family acquaintance in July of 2012 when she was six weeks old, and she and I became inseparable. She moved up with me from Georgia to New England in 2016 and has taken many road and plane trips back and forth with me to visit family. She's an anxious but really good traveler! Through all the struggles I've faced while gaining my independency in New England, she's always been the solid foundation I've had at home - a constant best friend and unwavering love.

However, in February of 2025, Melody was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. A few months following, she was found to also be in the beginning stages of renal failure. This has proceeded into a very tough year of countless UTIs, body sores, fatigue, and more pills and emergency vet visits than I can count. Her vet team has been phenomenal and supportive, but quality care means higher costing vet bills. With Melody entering stage 2 renal failure and having both prescription foods and three pills to take daily, I am now at a place where I am unable to even afford food and rent for my own self.

I am also a chronically ill person, and I suffer daily from stabbing body pains and new dizziness and fatigue from a possibly undiagnosed heart condition. My current condition has made it extremely difficult to work, and therefore, I lose out on income. I am currently working to obtain health insurance through the state to pursue options for my health, but the ever-hanging fear of not having funds to take care of Melody and myself is constantly looming over me, worsening my anxiety.

If you know my family and me, you know I am not one to ask for help (I think I took this page from my granny's book). But, I am now at a time where I am being forced to swallow my pride and put everything out on the table in order to request assistance. Any bit will immediately go towards the remainder of Melody's vet bills from the past few months, which are currently sitting at $573. This will offer me some peace of mind.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions that need answering.
