Hello to all,
Alison O’Donnell here, wearing my kaleidoscopic Mellow Candle hat. I am making a financial appeal to improve life for Dave Williams, my former husband and guitarist of the band.
Sadly, Dave has advanced Alzheimer’s disease, is profoundly deaf, and is in need of round-the-clock care. Dave’s long-term partner Nancy, passed away recently, which makes his situation ever more dire. I am reaching out to music lovers and kind-hearted supporters. If Mellow Candle’s music ever struck a chord, please consider donating. We’re looking to raise at least €1000.
Any amount, however small, goes a long way in Dave’s home in Cape Town. Your donations will go directly towards medical expenses and carers.
As the years have passed Swaddling Songs has gained cult status, but back in the day it flew under the radar, and the band’s album was a critical success but a commercial failure.
Since GoFundMe has no official relationship with South Africa, a dedicated current account has been set up by me in Ireland (under my legal surname of Brower). Thereafter the funds will be sent to Dave’s sister-in-law’s account, who previously managed an earlier trust fund, now closed, after his wife Adrienne died.
The music that Dave helped to create has given people great pleasure over the years, so now my sincere hope is that friends, relatives and fans will give back and restore dignity and comfort to Dave. Please share his story and pass the word. Thank you.
