At just 25 years old, Melissa has been living with end-stage renal failure for the past five years. Throughout this journey, she has shown extraordinary strength and determination—continuing to work full-time, even while undergoing dialysis treatments, surgeries, and long recovery periods. More often than not, she completed treatments late at night or early in the morning, just so she could show up and keep going.
Now, a true blessing has arrived Stephanie, Stephanie is my cousin and with her kind heart and selflessness she made the decision 4 years ago to be a living donor to Melissa, it has been a 4 year long process but she has finally
been approved for a kidney transplant, scheduled for 03/16/2026 in the Duke area. This life-saving transplant marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one—but it also comes with significant financial challenges.
Following the transplant, she will be out of work for approximately six months to allow her body the time it needs to heal. During this period, funds raised will help cover essential post-transplant medications, ongoing medical expenses, travel and lodging near Duke, and everyday living costs.
As her family, we are creating this fundraiser to help ease the burden and allow her to focus fully on healing. She has given so much of herself over these years—pushing through pain, fatigue, and uncertainty with grace and resilience. Now, we are asking our community to come together and support her during this critical time.

Con solo 25 años, Melissa ha estado viviendo con insuficiencia renal en etapa terminal durante los últimos cinco años. A lo largo de este camino, ha demostrado una fortaleza y determinación extraordinarias: continuó trabajando a tiempo completo incluso mientras recibía tratamientos de diálisis, se sometía a cirugías y atravesaba largos períodos de recuperación. Muchas veces completaba sus tratamientos tarde en la noche o temprano en la mañana, solo para poder presentarse al trabajo y seguir adelante.
Ahora ha llegado una verdadera bendición. Stephanie es nuestra prima ella hace 4 años tomo el acto de amor y desinteresado de donar su riñón , y ahora han sido aprobada para un trasplante de riñón, para 03/16/2026 en el área de Duke. Este trasplante que le salvará la vida marca el final de un capítulo y el comienzo de uno nuevo, pero también trae desafíos financieros.
Después del trasplante, estará fuera del trabajo aproximadamente seis meses para permitir que su cuerpo tenga el tiempo necesario para sanar. Durante este período, los fondos recaudados ayudarán a cubrir los medicamentos esenciales posteriores al trasplante, los gastos médicos continuos, los viajes y el alojamiento cerca de Duke, así como los gastos diarios del hogar.
Como familia, estamos creando esta recaudación de fondos para ayudar a aliviar la carga y permitirle enfocarse completamente en su recuperación.
