Melissa's Hip Replacement Recovery Fund

Hey Friends!

I have severe degenerative bone and cartilage damage in my right hip. Not only is this extremely painful, it's getting progressively worse. So, I am getting a total hip replacement on June 20th, 2023 -- possibly sooner if there's an opening.

I have been suffering from this for over five years. This has severely restricted my activity level. I must constantly negotiate my activity level versus pain and the time it takes me to recover. As the months and weeks go on, pain and recovery time grow while the ability to do even basic things like standing or sitting for any length of time shrinks.

The surgery was originally scheduled for April 10th, but I came down with COVID-19 two days before. That was a whole other ordeal!

Now, I feel blessed to have the opportunity to have ongoing, debilitating pain resolved and return to normal life and normal activity at last.

However, as you might have guessed, I am not financially prepared for the total hip replacement coming up on June 20th.

I was hoping to create some savings before the original surgery date. I created a private fundraising effort to that end. Then the COVID hit...

With the surgery now scheduled for June 20, I've created this new GoFundMe in order to offset household expenses during my recovery.

In addition to household expenses, your material contributions will help cover physical therapy and recovery equipment.

There's generally great success with this procedure, but I have been advised to expect six months to a year for a full recovery.
