More than they Asked, More than they Imagined!
Melissa's story is the story of most women with ovarian cancer. She was sick with a variety of ailments that couldn't be explained or cured. She had a scan. Then exploratory surgery to remove the suspected tumors. A diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer and an aggressive regimen of chemo.
Where her story differs though, perhaps, is the constant and vigilant prayers that surround her by family and friends all over the world. We have witnessed many miracles--both physical and emotional--as Melissa has persevered through this trial.
Most notably that she had a lengthy period of no treatment and yet no growth. Unfortunately, that time ended in late fall and Melissa is back under a chemo regimen.
Melissa's attitude of "Kill Cancer" and her humor have served her well on this difficult journey. Her trademark, "Oh my stars!" response when she found out about this project was classic.
A part of the goal we are striving for with this GoFundMe is to send Melissa, Brian, Camden, and Rory to Walt Disney World for a week of family togetherness and magic. We are looking at a fairly short time line for this because of school and church schedules--also a Southwest Airline fare sale until 1/19-we made it!!! Airfare has been purchased!
We are now $361 from paying for lodging, the next item on the list! Can you help us a little or a lot? --we made it!!!
Lodging has been secured in a SAVANNA room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge
Camden's ticket goal has been reached!!!
Rory's ticket goal has been reached!!!
We are part way through the goal of purchasing tickets for Brian and Melissa!!! We have met our ticket goal!
NOW? Let's feed this family!!!! This is the LAST portion (see what I did there? :D) of this project!!!!
As always the largest part of the goal is to uphold, uplift, support, and encourage Melissa and her family on this very difficult journey. Melissa has traveled thus far with faith, grace, and strength. She writes with transparency on her blog http://www.lifeasalewis.blogspot.com .
We'd like to provide for them air fare-done!, on-site lodging-done!, tickets-done!, meal plan, and gratuities.
