Melissa would never ask…

My name is Cheri Hanagan, and I’m sharing this fundraiser to help my long-time friend and co-worker, Melissa Handloser, and her family. Melissa is a very private and giving person—and it’s now time for her to be on the receiving end.

Melissa was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in December 2022. She has undergone surgery, treatments, and clinical trials, exhausting all options except for a maintenance regimen that served her well—until the last several weeks. All who know her will understand: she has faced all of this quietly, humbly, and without asking for help beyond her immediate family.

Her family is focused on supporting and spending time with her while managing the weight of it day to day. But the mounting medical bills and other expenses have become an additional heavy burden.

We can help with that. Her sister, Karen, her husband, Gary, and her “boys” have done all they can on their own. Now, they’ve reached out for help so they can keep their energy where it matters most—on Melissa.

To ease the burden on the family, we will share updates here as appropriate, so friends and loved ones can stay informed, offer words of encouragement, and know how their generosity is making a difference.
