“You”....”have”....”cancer”....These are three words that in of themselves are ordinary and quite unremarkable, but when spoken aloud together ....are completely life altering! The mind races as you search familiar faces for some sort of clarity, Silently thinking They can’t possibly be talking to me? This has to be some kind of mistake!!
Well On April 23rd these very words were said to my dear friend Melissa Ross when She was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.
Now whether you’ve spent ten minutes or ten years with this woman you know unequivocally that she is unique unto herself....a complete original! ....She’s an artist...., a rebel, “who's ideals ring clear” .... A confidant dispensing her wit and wisdom to those in need. All the while Displaying a generosity of love and friendship that is wholly unconditional!
But what Has always struck me the most about Melissa is her dedication and selflessness as a mother! She has successfully raised the three most amazing sons Zack, Hunter and Weston . All Men of substance, with a strength of character and capacity for kindness that would make any mother proud! She has two lovely and supportive daughter-in-laws and four of the most enchanting grand children, whom she is completely over the moon for!!! Melissa’s family is her greatest blessing in life and she is completely devoted.
It is with them in mind that Melissa has summoned the courage to fight back and attack this cancer head-on!
And make no mistake about it this is one battle she has every intention of winning!!! She’s being pro-active with her chemo while continuing to educating herself on available alternatives treatments. She’s unfailingly optimistic and upbeat ....A total free spirit strolling through life with an open an open mind and open heart continuing to inspire all who cross her path with positivity and her zest for life!
On a personal note Melissa was there for me 3 years ago when I received my own diagnoses of cancer. She was my personal guardian angel that cared for me both physically and emotionally, And I’m forever grateful to have her as my friend!
So I’m hoping in turn to help lighten the load for Melissa just a little by initiating this campaign. Many of you have been asking “how can I be of help? “ as you can well imagine “BEATING” cancer is a very lengthy and expensive venture. The chemo has been taxing physically leaving her unable to work for an undetermined amount of time. And Unfortunately the cost of medical treatments and daily living expenses are piling up quickly, adding undo stress to an already challenging situation. Its my hope that we can all chip in to help elevate some of the burden by providing monetary assistance....giving whatever we can, ...No amount is to small!!
Let’s come together to provide Melissa the greatest gift of all, the ability to concentrate on resting and healing her body....and spending quality time with her beautiful family!
