My name is Holly Curley. I have set up this Gofundme page in honor of my Sister In-Law Melissa Ramsey Schmidt. Melissa passed away this morning after a tough battle with Colorectal cancer, she was 52 years old. Melissa was tough and knew what she was up against as her twin brother passed from the same disease only a few years earlier. Melissa wanted to make the most of the time she had here on earth with her loving husband Jim Schmidt, her daughter Madison 17 yrs old and son Camdyn 12 yrs old. They are a very close family. She wasn’t able to see many friends and family this past 10 months as she was

always in pain and unable to stay awake for any length of time. Melissa was a Christian and her faith in the Lord Jesus was so strong. That strength got her through many difficult days. Thankfully she was able to stay home right up to the very end. She was taken to the hospital yesterday with severe bleeding where she was released to hospice care. They took wonderful care of Melissa in her last hours. She passed today September 12, 2025 at 4am.

I'm requesting donations to assist my brother, niece and nephew as they will

be faced with expenses above and beyond the funeral. Melissa’s small SSI benefits including medical were denied last month.

They have been accumulating medical bills during these past two years. Jim works full time and has provided for his family during Melissa’s illness. It would be blessing if he could stay home and grieve with his family if only for a week or two.

So any amount even the smallest amount will go directly to Jim and the kids to help with expenses following Melissa’s passing.

Graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 23, 2025 at 11:00 am. Location; Sea Pines Memorial Garden

3001 S. US 1 Edgewater Florida

There will be a celebration of Life immediately following Graveside Service with light lunch/appetizers provided.
