Melissa (“Missy”) Mendez Breidenstein graduated from Princeton High School in 1981, and earned a degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky in 1985. Melissa married Tom in 1996 and they were blessed with two beautiful children. Their son William, at the age of 9 in 2009, was confronted with a debilitating and life-altering epilepsy diagnosis. Since that day, Melissa and Tom dedicated their time and energy to his care. Melissa's unbridled passion for her family was always evident, but never more so than when she lovingly performed William’s around-the-clock care. Melissa was always by his side cheering him on, advocating for his treatment, managing his rehabilitation, and fighting challenging battles within the complicated healthcare and insurance systems. In 2020, Tom transitioned into a private, home-based practice affording him greater flexibility to help with William, but Melissa remained committed as his primary caretaker. Melissa's unexpected loss leaves a void in William's life as well as in the lives of Tom and their loving daughter Frances (who is finishing her graduate studies in California). Your support of the Breidenstein family is received with sincere gratitude.
