Life-Saving Surgery for Melissa McHenry Cabauatan

Hi, my name is Dina Goulet Mestel. I am fundraising for my sorority sister and dear friend for 30 years, Melissa McHenry Cabauatan. Melissa and her husband Scott have been on a roller coaster ride since last August. Melissa has been diagnosed with a very complicated Neuroendocrine Tumor that is wrapped around major arteries and veins. After going through 4 rounds of Chemo and no change in the tumor, her surgeon at U of M did not feel he had enough experience and expertise to perform the surgery she needs. Melissa and Scott have been on a journey to find a surgeon willing to perform the procedure that Melissa needs to live a long and happy life, and they have fortunately found a doctor in NYC who will take her case! They are still in the process of exploring some leads in other states as well, but regardless of where the surgery takes place, it appears as though Melissa will have to stay in the area for several months. This will require travel and living expenses for her and her family, as well as time off work for both her and Scott. Please help to make the burden a little lighter on this wonderful family.
