The friends and family of Melissa Fenner are asking for some financial help for Melissa while Katie is hospitalized:
Katlynn Charlton is the 13 year old daughter of Melissa Fenner. She was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension at the age of 4. At that time she was not expected to make it to age 5.
She has been seeing Dr. Mullen at Boston Children's hospital since moving back to northern New York several years ago. Her condition was controlled by meds until recently. In December she had an episode where she fainted and it was discovered her condition had progressed.
On February 9th she was scheduled for a Heart Cathertization in Boston. When she was taken back for the procedure her heart was so enlarged that it collapsed her lung.
By that night her condition had deteriorated to the point that she needed yo be put on an ECMO machine.
Since then they have attempted to remove her from the machine without success. On Wednesday she had a Potts Shunt installed in hopes this would allow her to be removed from the ECMO.
Unfortunately, this has caused a blood clot in her lungs that, so far, has only been able to partially be removed.
The short term hope is that the blood clot can be successfully removed, allowing her lungs to expand and her being removed off the ECMO machine.
The long term hope is for a lung transplant.
Melissa is currently with Katie in Boston and is unable to work due to always being right by her daughters side every single step of the way, please donate if you can and even if you can’t donate please share, every little bit helps!!!
