Melissa Dunn Memorial

Funds donated here will be used to funeral expenses for Melissa and to continue providing for the education of her son, Jacob.

Melissa passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 6, 2020. While she had suffered for many years from chronic severe migraines, to the point where she was classified as medically disabled and relied greatly on her beloved service dog, Zoey. That Friday morning, Melissa started having seizures at home. We immediately called 911 and an ambulance was dispatched, but when they got her to the hospital, she was unresponsive and could not be revived.

While we had unknowingly been led in various steps over the past few months to put us into a better situation for this — such as going from 2 cars to 1 — other factors have limited us. The job that I had for 3 years with a large employer that provided good benefits was eliminated on July 10 due to the pandemic. I was able to find full-time work soon after, but it’s with a startup that isn’t yet able to provide benefits — I pay for our health insurance completely out-of-pocket.

We know that we’ll have large expenses for the funeral, as well as ensuring that I’ll be able to continue supporting Jake in his online schooling, now that his Mom, his primary supporter, encourager, and organizer is gone. We greatly appreciate any and all contributions.
