The Hoke Family is reaching out to all family, friends, and loved-ones for Melissa Hoke-Cisneros. Melissa had recently found love and decided to move to be with her fiancé, Johnny Zambrana to Chicago-area in 2021, with plans to wed this year. Unfortunately, both she and her fiancé experienced a catastrophic car accident. Johnny experienced a major heart attack while driving himself, Melissa, and their close friend on March 17, 2022. The car lost control and crashed into several things on the road before finally smashing into a light pole. The accident tragically resulted in Johnny losing his life. Melissa endured severe injuries including a broken right knee, broken hand, broken left ankle, and several fractures to her face, neck, and spine. When we learned of the accident,We travelled to Chicago from Indianapolis. We were unsure of the full extent of her injuries as she was still healing. With each passing day, doctors would discover new areas of internal bleeding and several complications causing delay in her healing. Melissa has endured several surgeries while at Loyola University Hospital, in hopes to repair the damage to her foot. The surgeons have informed us that her ankle that they had to reconstruct could potentially become amputated if it does not heal correctly. This tragedy for Melissa has been a long journey as she mourns the loss of her future-husband while bed-bound in a hospital. We are a praying family and believe that God will deliver Melissa, heal her body, and bring her back even stronger.
We all love Melissa and want to support her through her recovery by assisting with rehabilitation services, medical treatment, medications, and everyday living expenses. Unfortunately, Melissa is uninsured, and the hospital has given notice that she must leave the care of the hospital by April 12, 2022. Transporting her safely from Chicago back home to Indianapolis is our top priority. We understand it can be very costly to contract with medical transportation services, but do not want to disturb the healing process of her fractured neck and spine. We are asking for the support of our friends and family to aid in the financial burden that she will face during this long road of recovery. This has been a difficult time for everyone financially, but we are also so blessed to be in a position to support Melissa. Whether it is words of encouragement, phone calls, texts, notes, cards, or monetary support we love and appreciate you.
