Melissa Boyd Cancer Fund

This is my youngest sister Melissa (aka Missy). She is one of the strongest and bravest people I know!! Melissa is a wonderful wife and mother of three children who love her to pieces. Her spouse is on disability, so the family relies heavily upon her financially. Melissa is a Nurse who takes pride in always taking care of others, doing whatever it takes to get the job done, and putting her needs last.

On December 7, 2020, Melissa had an emergency appendectomy. Pathology results revealed that she had goblet cell adenocarcinoma, a very rare form of cancer. It was also determined that the cancer had spread, so additional surgery was necessary. She has since had a right hemicolectomy, removal of her gall bladder and fat pad, all vessels, 19 lymph nodes, and 30% of her colon. Melissa is currently battling with multiple painful stomach ulcers and inflammation into the duodenum, in addition to issues with her body rejecting a lot of her diet. She has a large team of doctors at Hershey Medical who are working together to determine the best course of action for her complex diagnosis.

Although Melissa has insurance, her medical bills have quickly accumulated with no end in the near future. She has accepted that this is going to be a long road ahead for she and her family. She has used all of her FMLA leave for the year, which now prioritizes her need for help. Our family is asking for donations to help with the treatments and loss of work Melissa continues to incur.
