Dear Family and Friends,
My daughter, Melissa Boban, was rushed to the hospital on September 26th. After a battery of tests and a 5-day hospital stay, Melissa was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She was put on medications and sent home to cope with her new medical condition. Within 12 hours of being released from the hospital she suffered a stroke due to a blood clot in her brain. She was transported to Mass General Hospital in Boston where she was given medication to dissolve the blood clot. Melissa was unable to speak or move her body and was put on a feeding tube. As a result of her treatments at Mass General, Melissa progressed to being able to speak, walk with assistance, and eat ground food. She was then transferred to Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital.
As a result of her intense therapies at Spaulding, Melissa was able to return to home. She can walk with a walker and a brace on her left leg, her speech is improving, and she is able to eat food cut into small bites. Unfortunately, Melissa has been taken to the hospital several times since returning home for heart issues.
Even with her limited insurance her medical bills are rising out of control. The bills will keep mounting as she is unable to return to her job. Her continuing physical, occupational and speech therapies, follow up doctor’s appointments and medication costs present a significant financial difficulty.
Melissa is only 40 years old and a single mother of 2 girls. At this time, she has run out of her sick time and she has no way to financially support her family. She has a long road to recovery before she will be able to return to work.
Prior to her stroke, Melissa was an avid bowler, bowling for years on several teams at the Strikers East Bowling Alley in Raymond, NH. She also loves to crochet. Melissa has a loving and generous spirit which inspires her to go out of her way to help anyone in need. She currently is employed at Southern New Hampshire Services where she is an early childhood education teacher. Melissa found her way into this head start program when her eldest daughter was enrolled. Melissa volunteered as much as she could, which fostered her passion for wanting to help underprivileged children. She returned to college and earned her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education to obtain this goal. She misses her students, loves her job, and hopes to be able to return to work one day.
I would greatly appreciate if you could help Melissa and her two daughters in this most difficult time. If you cannot help financially, I would appreciate your prayers for Melissa’s continued courage, strength, and healing.
Thank you and God bless you for your generosity!
